2014 National Secondary School Waka Ama Championships: Opononi Area School 

Opononi Area School is a popular school at the Rotorua event as teams before us have set a precedence that defines our school as quoted by the announcers “one school to look out for”. We trained three teams to take to the Waka Ama Champs on Lake Tikitapu this year and they exceeded our expectations. 


Find an Anzac Day Service

New Zealanders have marked the landings at Gallipoli since news of the event first reached this country, and Anzac Day has been a public holiday since 1921. On this day the people of New Zealand have acknowledged the sacrifice of all those who have died in warfare, and the contribution and suffering of all those who have served.


Communications Planning Workshop @3-4 May 2014

As part of the Marae toolbox that Te Rūnanga-Ā-Iwi-O-Ngāpuhi is currently developing with the support of the JR McKenzie Trust, we are running a two-day pilot Marae Communications planning workshop commencing on 3 May 2014.  Registrations of interest are due back no later than Thursday 24 April 2014.

Auckland Council Rangatahi Panel

Auckland Council is seeking 21 Rangatahi (one per local board area) to form the regional “Foundation Rangatahi Panel”. The role of the Foundation Rangatahi Panel is to envisage and establish how rangatahi will participate in decision-making locally and regionally within Auckland.  Applications close 5pm, May 2, 2014

Community, iwi groups lobby to buy state houses cheap

Community and iwi groups have asked the Government to sell them up to a fifth of the country's 69,000 state houses at a discount of up to about half of market values.


Youth event bigger bolshier

The two day summit, on May 22-23, will be held at Kaitaia's Te Ahu Centre and will be open to 100 young Northlanders.
