Cheryl Meek reported on the Tamariki Ora programme at Te Riingi Marae.

  • Waka programme for young people.

  • Other marae invited to take part.

  • Publicizing through school newsletters.

  • Hui 28 August.

  • Wānanga 5-7 September.

Te Hauora o Kaikohe

  • Sonny gave a brief update on changes.

General Business

  • Riki gave an update on the work of the police with an emphasis on prevention and  the effects of alcohol and drugs and the prevalence of family violence.

    • Working in collaboration with Ngāpuhi Iwi Social Services.

  • Mitai reported on the reopening of the Kohanga Reo at Te Iringa and invited families to register their mokopuna.

  • Don invited everyone to participate in the Okaihau Kaikohe Traverse - a run/walk event on Sunday 28 September.

  • Winnie advised of a Wānanga Reo at Ōtatara 18-20 September.
