o   Busy with unveilings, 21st.  Corner of Whare Tupuna needs lifting

 

      Te Iringa

o   Restructuring of committee.  Trustee responsibilities being discussed.

Other Reports

 

Education

Jim Luders presented an oral update of progress with rebuild of Northland College.

      Meeting with principals of feeder schools in the area.  Forming a Community Schools network.

      School is advocating the running of the college in accordance with what the whanau want for their children.

      Keith Wihongi has been nominated for the new board.

      Pre-schoolers need to enrolled into early child hood facilities.

      Intermediate School is going to stay.

      Hirini is working with Kura Kaupapa o Kaikohe with history and whakapapa.

 

Corrections

Te Miringa gave oral report

      Request was made for people to visit the prisoners.

      Community Liaison meetings have been stopped, it was suggested they need to be restarted.

      Anti smoking law needs to be looked at.

 

Te Hauora o Ngapuhi

Winnie Leach gave an oral report.

      Opening of Te Hauora o Ngapuhi was good.

      Queries were raised about some of the tikanga practised on the day.

General Business

Tania Pene  Iwi Development Te Runanga a Iwi o Ngapuhi    

      The position of Hapu Development Co-Ordinator has been advertised.

      A new business plan has been formulated.

      Applications from 6 marae have been received for the Hapu Development fund.  New round opens 6th October.

      Introduced the new Communications Manager, Tio Taiaki.  He gave a

      brief profile and explained there is a new strategy in place.

·      Written report

·      Attended the Resource Management hearing for Top Energy.

 

Ron Dixon

·      Expressed his concern about the lack of JP in the Kaikohe area.

 

·      Query raised about opening a flea market on the parking area of the RSA.

o   Marie will raise the matter at the next RSA Executive meeting.

 

·      Query rose about stall holders for the Ngapuhi Festival.

o   Keith will report back to next meeting.

 

·      Query rose about the coroner moving to Auckland.

o   Keith will report back next meeting.
