Matters Arising

  • Need to update marae contacts.

Correspondence

  • Letter to the council Chief Executive supporting Shaun Reilly’s request to address the Far North District Council on the use of the Butler Centre for staff accommodation.

Matters Arising

  • Shaun reported that he still hasn’t been able to speak to the whole council. He is still concerned about staff members being moved to Kerikeri.

Marae Reports

Kohewhata

  • Very Busy.

Kotahitanga

  • Closed from 19 September. New chairperson is Alf Tango.

Te Riingi

  • Closed 23 November to 5 December to connect new sewerage system.

  • Several activities planned over the holiday period.

Ngāi Tāwake

  • New chair to be elected.

Parikaha

  • Three monthly meetings.

Te Rūnanga-a-iwi o Ngāpuhi Operations

  • There is an album of photos of recent activities at the office.

  • Go to the website and Facebook page for information about the festival and to book a site.

  • Tertiary Scholarship applications are open.

  • Hapū Development applications are open.

  • Takiwā planning workshops are planned.

  • The commissioner still controls Curriculum, Property and Finance.

New Zealand Transport Agency

  • Tim Crow and Jacqui Hori-Hoult explained the proposal for Mangakahia Road and Otaika Valley Road to become State Highway 15.

  • The highway will be maintained by the New Zealand Transport Agency and funded by central government instead of being maintained and funded by the Far North District Council and Whangarei District Council as at present.

General Business

  • Ron noted that more Justices of the Peace are needed in the Kaikohe Area.

  • Hauāuru Takiwā Kaikaranga and Kaikōrero needed for the opening of the festival art exhibition - 6:30pm Wednesday 22 January.
