5.     TE RUNANGA A IWI O NGAPUHI REPORT

a.              Kaumatua Ball – catering offered to Takiwa – Parihaka marae offered to host.

b.              Suggestion that host caterer for the 2012 Ball is appointed early in the year.

c.              Hapu Development Fund – is not available for Social Services. Is available for minor capital works $5000-00 and under.

d.              Reminder that Te Runanga is now the owner of Caltex Service station, please use it.

e.              Query whether loyalty cards could be issued.

f.               Submissions are needed for the Seabed and Foreshore.

g.              Voting needed for Local Body elections.

7.     MARAE REPORTS

b.              Kohewhata – finishing still in progress.

d.              Mahuhu-ki-te Rangi – 3 person being nominated by marae to complete a bachelor degree with Awanuiarangi. 12 week programme for Zumba classes is commencing again. Diabetes programme being looked at. Info available from Sarah Matene.

e.              Ngai Tawake – AGM held. Programmes available for 2011; Matauranga Maori, new courses available Maori Administration, Accounting and Masters of Matauranga. Office for Marae Based Studies has moved to the old NISS building on the corner of Broadway and Park Avenue, 135b Broadway.

f.               Okorihi – query; can we get free photocopying done at the Runanga – reply from Raniera, Yes.

g.              Parihaka – working in a cluster with Mahuhu-ki-te-Rangi commencing 4th October for wananga, Iho Matua, Hirini Tau Tutor. Plans for 2011 to commence building new marae. Raised the expense for permits; $27,000-00 to build a new toilet block.

a.              Hauauru Mahi a Iwi Social Services - written report received

c.              Te Runanga a iwi o Ngapuhi – Operations - AGM 30th October at Te Iringa marae.

d.              Ngapuhi Iwi Social Services- Liz Marsden introduced and gave a report of future aims and programmes being looked at. Looking to work closely with existing Social Service agencies.

9.     GENERAL BUSINESS

a.              National Weavers meeting in Whangarei 4.00 pm Sunday 21st Sept until Thursday 25th Sept.

b.              Dallas Williams presented a report on the Regional Land Transport. Northland has the highest national deprivation in the country. No money to be put into roading for the Hokianga and Kaikohe for the next few years. A further report to follow.

c.              Maori Wardens – Moe Smith reported from conference held in Rotorua that the National President said that no Maori Wardens will be at the Rugby World cup 2011.

d.              Edith Tahere – calculations for marae development should include 15% GST.

e.              Work is needed for 24 Community Max workers, any marae with work available to contact Tracey Dalton.
