Te Rūnanga-ā-iwi o Ngāpuhi Trustees’ Report

  • Ngāpuhi Festival Papakura Marae 9 April.
  • Withdrawal of Ngāti Hine – still progressing.
  • Caltex and Paper Plus development discussed. The Papere Plus business has been purchased, not the building that it is in currently.
  • Management positions have been short-listed.
  • Roadshow at next meeting.
  • Question about Council planning process – consider Local Government issues at the May meeting if time is too short at the April Meeting.

Marae Reports

Māhuhu-ki-te-rangi

  • AGM 10 April. Applying for wānanga with Awanui-ā-rangi. Marae is sponsoring a student for bachelor’s study at Awanui-ā-rangi.
  • Concerned about representation – Ngā Hapū o Ngāpuhi and Tuhoronuku.
  • Noted that Tuhoronuku will come to any marae.

Ngai Tawake

  • Considering the layout of the marae – resurveying the marae reserve.
  • Marae based studies continuing – ngā rangatira mō āpōpō.
  • Sonny is the Ngai Tawake spokesperson for Tuhoronuku.
  • 17 Dec 2011 celebrating 10 years of marae based studies.

Okorihi

  • Support letter for Hapū Development.

Parihaka

  • Also involved with Awanui-ā-rangi.
  • Sonny Tau is mandated Tuhoronuku representative for Ngati Hinemutu.

Other Reports

Hauāuru Mahi-ā-iwi Social Services

  • Only three volunteer workers at present.
  • Majority of work related to WINZ and budgeting with some successes.
  • Housing a concern – needs to be brought to the rūnanga.
  • Discussion about local authority rates.

Hauora Whānui

  • Ahuareka Festival – Ngāti Hine.

General Business

  • 5:30 Next Wednesday – Council Roadshow for the Annual Plan.
  • Discussion about Paper Plus location.
  • 28 March Te Hauora o Kaikohe preserving workshop at the Memorial Hall pres.
  • Ngaro Poa is coordinating Agewell and Scope – help and support of elderly.
  • Aged Widows Invalids etc units – no confidence in trust.
  • Shane Jones is moving his electorate office to Auckland.
