  • Report to be sent to Don for recording.
  • Chairman position for election at Annual General Meeting.

·     Allegations have been put forward for legal issues that are causing concern.

o      Recent purchase of old Te Hau Ora O Kaikohe Building for NISS. Hope to be in by February. Hoping to create a Social Services hub in Marino Court’

o      Ngapuhi Festival – various forms of fundraising are being looked at. Programme being put together.

o      Ae Marika out on the web.

o      Art Gallery opening in Moerewa

o      Auditors have finished for the Annual Report.

o      Whanau Ora update – NISS need to relearn approach to Whanau Ora for Social Workers.

 

Marae Reports:

Mahuhu-ki-te-Rangi

·      Host for February meetings.

·      Ngapuhi Language Strategy distributed.

·      Feasibility study completed.

·      Free mobile medical checks at the marae being given by Ngati Hine Health.

·      Rongoa Hui being held at Waipuna Marae 21 November 2011.

·      Preserving of toanga hui being held at Pukerata marae 26/27 November 2011.

·      Host for September meetings

·      Lining prep work has been completed

·      Diploma/Bachelor still being delivered.

 

Other Reports:

Broadway Health:

·      Meningococcal disease outbreak – 2 patients from the practice, 6 in the region to date with 2 deaths.

·      30,000 vaccines to be given by December.

·      Broadway Health is opening a satellite clinic at Waipapa. A meeting of Maori providers to be held to clarify the intentions of the clinic.

·      Hemaima will help to set up a data base of services available in the area.

 

Ministry of Education:

·      Darlia Walker is looking at the 20% not doing well at school from the holistic approach.

·      Focus groups – Maori, Pacifica, Special Needs.


General Business:
  • Kaikohe Business Association – Mike/Shirl.
    • Looking at the problems of youths breaking into businesses. Mike is working as a mentor to one of the offenders.
    • Greenworld Health is having items in the shop named in Maori as well as English.
    • Setting up part of the building as an education area for youth.
  • Fred Sadler – FNDC Maori Reference Group.
    • A petition to be circulated for a poll.
    • To be sent away before 23/11/2011.
    • Petition sheets will be available at Greenworld Health.
    • There is a need to get Maori to vote.
  • Mutunga Rameka – Electoral Office. Mutunga is the Maori Liaison for the Electoral office for the Northland Region.
  • Friday Roundtree - fundraising for a trailer for waka to be held 13th October at Otaua, a dinner will be held.
  • Te Hau Ora O Kaikohe Annual General Meeting to be held 15th October 2011.
