Matters Arising

·      The secretary has yet to write to Neal Summers about the Pokie Capital sign.

·      Clarification of the term takiwā poupou.

·      The takiwā is committed to meeting at marae.

Marae Reports

Kohewhata

·      On track for opening – 5:00am 7 April. AGM 5 May.

Māhuhu-ki-te-rangi

·      Marae is very active with History Wānanga, free clinics, Zumba etc.

Ngai Tawake

·      Record attendance of 42 at a recent working bee.

·      Continuing to work with Te Wānanga o Raukawa – Masters programme in Kaikohe.

Other Reports

Broadway Health

·      There was no representative from Broadway Health at the meeting.

·      Discussion about a specific complaint.

·      Concerns about the effect of the Waipapa Clinic on Kaikohe services.

·      Concerns about the cost of using the clinic in an emergency.

·      Broadway Health to be invited to our next meeting.

Te Rūnanga-ā-iwi o Ngāpuhi Operations

·      Ngāpuhi Iwi Social Services is moving into new offices in Marino Court at 10:00am 2 April.

·      Lucy Taurua-Mason presented a report on Hapū Development.

·      Scholarship applications close at the end of the month.

 

General

·      Ngāpuhi Festival Feedback

o   Discussion about exclusion of Hokianga in kaikaranga team.

o   Wānanga programme was confusing. 

·      Marae Master Chef is coming again.

·      Friday Rountree spoke about an Art Exhibition planned for Pukerātā Marae and requested financial assistance.

That Pukerātā Marae is granted $1,000 towards the cost of materials for their art exhibition.

 

·      Kaikohe Rotary Literacy Day  - 24 March at Northland College.

·      Christian Huriwai has won his unicycle even in Melbourne and is on his way to compete in Italy.

·      Mike Fitzgerald reported that the community board is planning to plant a grove of Kohekohe trees at each end of town.

·      The Hone Heke monument reserve is very untidy. It is to be cleaned up by PD workers.

·      Kaikohe Idol is coming.
